A Bit About Me

Scientist. Writer. Educator.

I have three goals in life: Learn, Create, Educate.

Education

In June 2018, I graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography and Biology (molecular, cellular, developmental). I spent two quarters at the Friday Harbor Laboratories (pictured right), where I volunteered in the Swalla Lab and conducted intertidal research as a Historical Marine Ecology Apprentice under Hilary Hayford and Robin Elahi. On the Seattle campus, I also participated in laboratory science as a geochemistry technician in the Solomon Lab where I focused on hydrocarbon chemistry in the sediments and water column.

Sustainability in Alaskan Fisheries

As a North Pacific Groundfish Observer, I characterized the species composition of fish caught commercially in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska, and provided additional data and specimens to NOAA Fisheries to allow in-season management of the fishery and to help them better understand how changing conditions effect distribution and behavior of fish.
